Dr. Per Christer Lund is Principal Consultant at DNV GL’s Clean Technology Centre in Singapore, with focus on electricity market reforms, smart energy systems and renewable energy in the Asia region. Before joining DNV GL in March 2014, Dr. Lund served eight years as energy and science counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo.

Dr. Lund has a comprehensive and varied background with more than 20 years in energy industry and research in Norway, Canada and Japan. After a post-doc in Japan studying CCS and one year at a Japanese nuclear power station, he developed software for energy trading and risk management systems at first Institute for Energy Technology, later Nasdaq OMX.

Dr. Lund has also been involved in design and operation of deregulated electricity markets in North America, India and Europe; as country manager for now NASDAQ OMX in Canada and Senior Vice President at Nord Pool Consulting in Norway.

During his two years at Nord Pool Consulting, Dr. Lund was engaged in designing the intra-state wholesale electricity market in India (client: Ministry of Power/NTPC), design of the national wholesale electricity market in Turkey (client: TEIAS), and modelling and implementation of the “All Island” electricity market for Ireland and Northern Ireland (client: Irish regulator CER).

As of 12 September 2013, DNV and GL have merged to form DNV GL. The company form the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society, one of the leading technical advisors to the global oil and gas industry, and a leading expert for the energy value chain including renewables and energy efficiency. DNV GL has also taken a position as one of the top three certification bodies in the world.

The rapid growth in Asia is coming with the general economic growth and associated clients and in particular from rapidly growing shipping and energy sectors.

2014 is a special year for DNV GL. It is year one as DNV GL but also the year where the company will celebrate 150 years of successful existence.
