Andrew Westwood is a Senior Vice President of DNVGL, the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society, the leading technical advisor to the oil and gas industry and the leading expert for the energy value chain including renewables and energy efficiency. Andrew spent 15 years at sea and then moved into the offshore industry before joining DNV.
With some 23 years with DNV he has held a variety of senior management positions in Asia Pacific Region, his current position is Business Development Manager, Asia Pacific and has in addition special responsibility for selected key global strategic advisory projects including transportation development in emerging Asian economies as well as Marine Fleet growth in Middle East.
As of 12 September 2013, DNV and GL have merged to form DNV GL. The company form the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society, one of the leading technical advisors to the global oil and gas industry, and a leading expert for the energy value chain including renewables and energy efficiency. DNV GL has also taken a position as one of the top three certification bodies in the world.

DNV GL was one of the first western companies to establish Asian operations with permanent presence in Shanghai from 1888 and Singapore from 1893. The operation has grown from 400 employees in 2004 to approximately 4000 in 2014. The rapid growth in Asia is coming with the general economic growth and associated clients and in particular from rapidly growing shipping and energy sectors.
2014 is a special year for DNV GL. It is year one as DNV GL but also the year where the company will celebrate 150 years of successful existence.
