Dr. Supavud Saicheua
Dr. Supavud Saicheua is Managing Director of Phatra Capital Public Company Limited and also Managing Director and Head of Research of Phatra Securities Public Company Limited, a position he has held since 1 December 2003.
After leaving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Supavud was with Phatra since 1994, except for the time he served as
Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs from September to November 1997. Dr. Supavud joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978, serving in the Department of Economic Affairs where he worked on Thai-US relations and multilateral issues such as the Uruguay Round, textiles negotiations under the Multi-Fiber Arrangement and ASEAN. He was appointed First Secretary at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. from 1986-1990, taking part in negotiations on trade issues between Thailand and the United States such as GSP, intellectual property protection, textiles, agricultural
products and Section 301 cases.
Dr. Supavud received his Bachelor of Arts with Honours in economics from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand in 1977, a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of the Philippines (Diliman) in 1981 and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, U.S.A. in 1984.
