Micheal Keaney is an agronomist and business leader who has more than 15 years of experience in the fertiliser industry.
In a career with global companies spanning more than 20 years, Micheal’s assignments have taken him from his native Ireland to New Zealand and Southeast Asia. Prior to Yara, he had more than six years’ experience in the pharmaceuticals / diagnostics sector before joining Ballance Agri-Nutrients (a Yara distributor in New Zealand) in 2008. He then joined Yara Thailand in 2015 as the company’s Agronomy Development Manager. Micheal was promoted to Myanmar Country Manager in 2020.
In his current role, Micheal leads all aspects of Yara’s business operations in Myanmar. He continues to ensure the safety of his team and business continuity, despite a challenging commercial, investment, and security climate.
Originally from the northwest of Ireland, Micheal is a citisen of Ireland and New Zealand. He is based in Bangkok, Thailand. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Technology from the Institute of Technology in Sligo, Ireland.
In his leisure time, Micheal is a passionate traveler who has backpacked across Australia, New Zealand, South America, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific region. He also has interests in sports and outdoor activities, particularly football, sub-aqua diving, trekking, and snowboarding.
